So Much to be Thankful

Adventures with Avery

We were at Bible Studies when Melissa and I were called into the Nursery. We were told Avery had a seizure. When we ran downstairs to the daycare she was just laying on a padded bench very limp. Tears flowed and our hearts sank, as we called 911. Andrew, Avery's Dad met us in the emergency room. After a C-scan and blood work, she was released. Avery is fine, blood work showed no sign of a seizure. The next day she seem to be herself again, we're we happy to hear her laughter and her crying.
As a Mom, I was happy to see Melissa's friends be so supportive.

We went to the sea side at Marsden Grotto for the last lucheon together as an HR Team. Tatyana on the left is the last of our HR team on the Africa Mercy. Alberta is on the Anastasis, Denise is our interim HR Manager, I'm returning to the USA, and Cindy left back to Canada.
I'll miss the Team, the ones that went ahead to the Anastasis and the ones that are still on the Africa Mercy

I could always find my steel toed shoes when I went on board.

And today they're walking in a new direction----home to the USA.

But their still following Jesus!!!

Jean Campbell, Health Care Manager sent out a report to the crew. She had some complimentary words about Terry. I wanted to share it with you all:

• In HealthCare Services

  Over the past few years, there have been a few people who have been key to getting the hospital to the point where it is now...looking move-in ready. Let me tell you about two of them in particular:

• Mark Coleman, who moved to the Anastasis with his family in June, assuming the role of Community Development Manager, spent months and months helping me work out what we needed for the medical gas system, etc. He later helped with installation of pipework, etc.

• Terry Barrett, who left his fingerprints on the Caribbean Mercy, has left a multitude of them all over the Africa Mercy hospital. On November 1, he and his wife Pat will be leaving Mercy Ships, so I want to take this chance to sing his praises....he's done all the rest of the work on the medical gas system, including installation and design; he's installed furnishings in the hospital area; overseen the installation of the operating lights, biological safety cabinet, x-ray, CT scanner, OPG x-ray, scrub sinks; prepared areas for installation of high density mobile storage; asked the right questions, helped sort out answers to my questions, and generally done it all with grace and skill.

Visitors from Spain

If you remember, Terry designed the oxygen concentrator container for the hospital.
Two Majors from the Spanish Air Force and a representative from AirSep came to see that container. The Spanish Air Force requires a similar system to supply their hospitals and cylinders for the airplanes in Afganistan. Terry gave them a tour of the Africa Mercy as he explained the medical gas system to them.

Where in the World are Terry & Pat?

According to the map, we are suppose to turn right!

We would like to give you an update of our plans. We applied to work at a US Embassy through a company named PAE. The possible locations could be Moscow, Bejing, or in Vietnam.

We have been reviewed and approved by the PAE staff in Beijing and the security clearance process has now been initiated. Last Monday the Embassy called and the weekend of 29 Sept we go to London for an interview.

Though we don't know the exact location, we decided at this point to give our notice to Mercy Ships after 2 1/2 years. We will be leaving England in November and heading to Colorado to stay with Melissa and family, then go to El Paso in December.

The Eyes are upon Texas

Isaiah has been away from his home country since Nov' 05. He stayed working here in England with Mercy Ships for 7 months, helping with the installation of the Medical Gas System.

For three months he was in the Czech Republic received his certificate to teach English as a Second Language, then taught in Prague.

Isaiah is back home for a season
enjoying all his favorite things!
