One of Josiah's friend, Matt, was staying at the house from mid November to mid December until he went off to Iraq.
After all the activity from October through December ceased our house is pretty quite. Holidays were filled with a few parties-Jacob's Engineering where Terry was a part of the choir (thanks to his brother who nominated him),

Credit Union Christmas dinner, and then a Dinner and Ornament Exchange with the Book Club which was started in October.

We kept busy till the very end and as of Dec 30 West Texas Air Museum is now offically closed, a few odds and end for the first two weeks in Jan, but it 's closed! Real proud of Terry he was very diligent, and perserving in completing this huge task.

New Year's Eve Terry and I celebrated with a nice Dinner and then went to play some Dominos with his family, got home around 10:30.

We drove up to Colorado to drop off Avery and Blake a day before Thanksgiving, so we heard all about Hawaii while we ate our Thanksgiving meal.

Isaiah from South Korea, Melissa and kids from Colorado, came to El Paso to see Josiah before he got stationed in Iraq. It was nice having all the kids and children around. Took a lot of pictures but not enough.

Zachary, Andrew and Melissa went to Hawaii, so we had Avery and Blake for 10 days. Here they are with some masks we had in the shed.

Veterns' Day - November 11

November 11 is an official holiday in The United States of America commemorating all living veterans of all American wars. It is celebrated by ceremonies at cemetaries - usually wreaths are layed while playing "Taps".
Originally called Armistice Day it celebrated the anniversary of the ending of World War I. On this day in 1918 the Allies and the Germans signed The Armistice and in honor of this important event an official holiday was introduced in 1938. Soon after World War II it became a celebration of all those who died serving their country and in 1954 the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans' Day.

In 1978 it was pronounced a federal holiday. Over time it became a celebration of all who served and survived in a war in order to avoid confusion with Memorial Day which is designated for honouring all those who died in nation s service.

October Rapids

Rapid-moving, acting, or occurring with great speed. That's what Ocotber has felt like. It's come and gone so quickly and so here is our month in pictures:

Lucky wasn't so lucky. Lucky hurt his foot and pulled a muscle, so I would take Lisa, my niece, to the stables everyday for a week before I headed to Atlanta to help Josiah with his packout from Ft. Benning. He is now stationed at Ft. Bliss until he gets shipped out to Iraq.

After spending a few days in Ft. Benning, we set out on a road trip heading west to Texas, which took us 2 days. The first day got us from Georgia through Alabama, Mississppi and Louisiana.

We have spent a lot of time at the airport this month. We sent 66 letters out to different Air Museum through out the United States and got a good response. We sold the Aircoupe, Starduster, Cessna 172, and donated the Propellor table, Provost Jet, lots of parts, the computer that landed the moon (a massive thing).

Josiah came out on Saturday and helped clean out shelves, move airplanes around. Here he's putting the tug back in the hanger.

And if that hasn't been enough, Pat started a Book Club, which will now meet once a month.

Labor Day Weekend

We decided to drive up to Colorado for the Labor Day Weekend, also it being my son-in-law's birthday made the decision easier (and we didn't even need a travel note).

We left on Friday @ 4:00 after work, spent the night in Raton, then headed into Erie, Colorado about 9:30am and seeing Melissa's face as we walked into their house was priceless. That was the best part of the whole trip. She had no idea we we're going up for a visit.

Zachary helping unload radios and instruments that we took to an air museum in Erie, Spirit of Flight Center, where Melissa lives. Many of you know we have been shutting down West Texas Air Museum, since Terry's father passed away in December, so if you know of anyone interested in buying some planes, antique artifacts, or an airport, just let us know.

After delivering the items to the museum on Saturday we joined in celebrating Andrew's birthday party (barbecue).It was filled with a group of fun people, and once it quieted down that evening Jill & Paul, Melissa & Andrew, Avery & Blake and Terry & I, bowled with Wii.

On Sunday we went and had breakfast at MiMi's and here's a Momma and her boys.

After breakfast we went to go watch (with 3D glasses) the movie Ice Age.

Then we went to a Colorado football game. We had a fabulous view, good food and good company to enjoy the game with, eventhough Colorado lost.

Ahh, back in Texas soil.

That was our weekend! Busy and fun with lots of love in between.

Tea Time

My friend, Julie and I had reservations at the Victorian Tea Room Saturday.

Our seating was at 11:30. When we arrived we were escorted to our table which had Welcome cards with our names,then we chose our hats that we wore for the next 1 1/2 hrs as we soak in the fragrance of the three different types of tea we were served.

Our first tea, English Evening tea was served with our savories: english cucmber tea sandwich, walnut tea sandwich, and sesame-ginger chicken salad tea sandwich.

Our Angel Falls Mist tea was served with our cream scones, lemon curd, and Devonshire cream.

Our third tea, Monk's Blend was served with our lime meltaway cookie, banana nut bread and melon fruit bowl.

We had a fabulous time eating, sipping on tea and enjoying each others company.

This moment; had all my favorite things: pretty cups, flowers, lace, and my friend.

Congratulations to 2 LT Barrett who completed IBOLC, (Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course) on August 27, 2009.

1 LT Elmaddin, an international exchange student from Azerbaijan, and a buddy is putting Josiah's Blue Cord.
