In the Army Now

On July 19th Josiah graduated from the Leadership Training School in Fort Knox, Kentucky. The graduation was the culmination of demanding training. Four weeks can change a person's life; being challenged emotionally,physically and mentally. Phase I taught the basic skills necessary to participate in the next three phases. Training was conducted by drill sergents. Phase II covered adventure training which built self-confidence and unit esprit-de-corps. Phase III used field exercises to assess the cadet's leadership abilities. Phase IV introduced the cadet to the social aspect of the Army. Take a look at the graduation pictures.

Ghana Medical Screening

The challenging part sometimes is from a personal perspective versus a ministry perspective. We are challenged because we want to be on-site and directly involved with the field service to the country of Ghana first-hand. Then we are excited because as a ministry we are doing exactly that. Sometimes we have to look past ourselves and see the big picture.Although we are still working on the completion of the Africa Mercy, the Ghana field service has not been delayed! Two days of Medical Screening took place in Tema, Ghana on Monday and Tuesday (June 26-27). There, also, was a screening in Takadori, Ghana on Friday. It is estimated that over 2,000 potential patients were lined up to see the doctors by 8:00 am on Monday morning in the extremely hot Ghanaian sun!

About half of the crew of the Anastasis (many of our crew from the Africa Mercy that went ahead to Ghana) laid aside their duties on board to help with the triage,crowd control, prayer and patient escorting during the screening days. Celebration Feast

Please Pray

Please, please help us pray for our dear friend Elizabeth and her husband, Jan. Elizabeth is from the Dominican Republic and we served together for several years with Mercy Ships. She recently married Jan, from the Netherlands and they are presently in Amsterdam. Early Monday morning Elizabeth had to have an emergency c-section. The baby, Grace Isabella, weighs slightly less than 4 pounds but is doing well but Elizabeth is very ill with pre-eclampsia related issues! She has had surgery 4 times since the c-section and she is presently on life support. PLEASE PRAY WITH US FOR A FULL RECOVERY!!!!!

Training Day

Josiah teaching Zachary chess in Colorado before heading off to Leadership Training School. Josiah is contracting with the Army completing his last two years of university studies, graduation, and then serving as a Second Lieutenant.
The Leadership School will be for a month this summer before he returns to school.

X-Men

Africa Mercy Outreach is about to begin!

Today, there were fourteen more crewmembers flying together from Newcastle to Tema, Ghana (where the Anastasis is currently docked and is the base for the Africa Mercy Outreach). This is the third group of crew members who have left England. Most of the Healthcare Crew will be in Ghana by the 19^th of June, screening on the 26^th of June, and surgeries begin on the 28^th of June to bring hope and healing to Ghana!
The Technical Crew will be staying back in Newcastle to finish the work on the ship. Our new project date is to sail to Rotterdam, Netherlands 01 October and then be in Ghana the first week of November.

Czech it Out !

Isaiah is in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic,attending an TESOL English as a Second Language School. Isaiah has been living with us in England for the last five months working on the ship. We're going to miss him!!!

Container Arrives

The oxygen concentrator container has arrived from New York. One more piece of the puzzle ready to be installed on the ship as soon as the Incline Test and Sea Trials are complete.
